The Interactive Department of the Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation (GPTMC) seeks a full-time department coordinator. GPTMC and gophila.com Description:
GPTMC, Philadelphia's regional tourism marketing agency, is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to building the region's economy and positive image through tourism and destination marketing. GPTMC's web site, gophila.com, is a comprehensive, consumer-oriented visitor information and trip planning Web site designed to advance a positive image of the greater Philadelphia region, increase awareness of the region as a tourist destination, encourage potential visitors to stay overnight or longer, facilitate travel arrangements and travel planning, and, ultimately, to catalyze the region's economy through travel-related spending and overall image enhancement.

Job Description:
The Coordinator will assist with the ongoing development of gophila.com. He/she will assist with the implementation of a new content management system, plan and execute online promotions, write, edit and update Web site content, keep departmental budgets, as well as assist the continuing development, marketing, partnership-building, administration and maintenance of gophila.com. The Coordinator will also support and coordinate the online needs of GPTMC staff. The Internet Coordinator will report to the Web site and New Media Director.

Responsibilities include:

Web Content:

  • Assist with migration of current Web site to new content and database management systems
  • Coordinate and fulfill online promotions
  • Continually monitor, research, evaluate and report on competitive destination Web sites: report findings, best practices, and provide recommendations and implementation strategies
  • Implement sponsorship and partnership online strategies including content development and cross-promotional opportunities
  • Assist with the development of new sections
  • Maintain content of several online sections and write e-newsletters
  • Respond to gophila.com Guestbook inquires
  • On-going writing, editing and updating of Web site content


Web Marketing:

  • Web reporting and usage metrics
  • Implement and manage online affiliate program
  • Grow participation and income from Virtual Brochure Rack
  • Submit gophila.com award/ recognition applications
  • Track and report online travel and advertising trends
  • Assemble & analyze usage tracking and marketing reports for staff
  • Assist with online advertising creative
  • Assist with growth of e-mail subscription database

    Audio Visual:
  • Develop and assist with multi-media presentations
  • Coordinate staff audio visual schedules
  • Manage and maintain operation of office audio visual equipment

Administrative:

  • Provide on-going web support as site changes and grows
  • Coordinate and facilitate the execution of staff online needs
  • Coordinate Interactive Department budget (process invoices, expenses, projections)
  • Provide administrative support for the Web site and New Media Director and Interactive Department staff: assist with correspondence, meetings, budgets, presentations, and special projects.

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required; strong verbal, writing, editing, fact checking, communication, budgeting and organization skills. Knowledge of online marketing, some HTML, Dreamweaver, and the Philadelphia region's tourism industry is preferred. Candidate must be flexible and possess the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and work as a team in a dynamic environment.

Computer Skills:

  • Microsoft Office 2000: Word, PowerPoint, Excel; some database management helpful; some HTML and Dreamweaver experience preferred
